Three charged after missing teen found in Lincoln home

Lincoln County deputies have charged three people after locating a runaway teen in their custody.

Police found the missing 15-year-old hiding in the attic of home in Cherryville around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. The boy had been missing for nearly a week.

When deputies knocked on the door, Rebecca Kirkland Eaker 46, answered and told them she had not seen the boy. The deputies smelled marijuana and asked for permission to search the home.

After Eaker consented, deputies found marijuana, drug paraphernalia and marijuana seeds in the home in addition to the missing teenager.

Emery Watts, 60, and Joshua Alan Gilbert, 18, were also found to be living in the home.

Eaker was charged contributing to the delinquency and neglect by a parent and resisting, delaying and obstructing a public officer.

Gilbert was arrested on charges of manufacturing a controlled substance and a couple of misdemeanors.

Watts was charged with misdemeanor possession of drugs and paraphernalia.

All three have been released on bond.

“The missing teen had been staying at the Eaker residence,” Detective Lt. Tim Johnson said. “And it’s illegal to hide a missing juvenile from the law.”
