Oregon man arrested for alleged trespass, sex abuse of horse

An Oregon man has been arrested on suspicion of repeatedly trespassing into a Washington County barn and having sex with a horse.

Tony Hall-Rivas was arrested on Wednesday at his Manning home, The Oregonian reports.

The 47-year-old is accused of repeatedly trespassing into a barn near his home and sexually abusing a gelding horse for at least the past seven months. Police investigators claim they have linked the suspect’s DNA with a hair sample taken from the site of the alleged crimes.
“Over time, he became more brazen in his actions,” Washington County Sheriff’s spokesman Sgt. Bob Ray told reporters. “Which was how we were able to obtain evidence that he left behind.”

Sgt. Ray said that Hall-Rivas had been chased off by the horse’s owner on multiple occasions. However, the owner never got a good enough look at the suspect to make a positive identification.

Ray added that a second horse may also have been sexually abused.

Hall-Rivas has been booked into the Washington County Jail on suspicion of trespassing, burglary and sexual abuse of an animal, a misdemeanor in Oregon. KGW reports that bail has been set at $20,000.

Several other cases of alleged horse-rape have made headlines in recent months. In February, 29-year-old Andrew Mendoza reportedly confessed to Wharton County, Texas police that he had sex with a neighbor’s mare and was “trying to make a horseman baby” with the animal.
Last November, 36-year-old Michael Francis Klan of Australia was sentenced to two years’ probation for having sex with a horse, recording the incident and sending the video to his ex-wife
